Lloyd Bridges and the Lloyd Building

Lloydbuilding

I don't recall where I read it, but this building in Eureka was once owned by the late Lloyd Bridges.

His dad owned the building and named it for his son Lloyd. His dad was a real estate guy and had holdings in Eureka and Crescent City. Lloyd attended EHS, I believe.

The Dad was actually Lloyd Jr. They owned the Professional Building block at 5th and F, the Romayne apatments, the Heuers Building and even the Vance Hotel in it's hey-day. Gary Gephart and Dave Galitz are both relatives who have remained in Humboldt County.

The lower floor was used by the county as part of the welfare dept. when I first moved here, if memory serves me correct.
