Photos from Ruth Lake camping trip
We spent some time this weekend at Ruth Lake, which is the dammed portion of the Mad River and located way out in Trinity County.
This was the view from our campsite. It was extremely pretty, but in the late afternoon the wind picked up and it felt like a hurricane. If one walked a mere 50 feet or so into the forest, the wind died down to almost nothing.
We swam and soaked up the sun. We also explored the area in our canoe.
We saw Great Blue Herons.
At first I liked this egret.
Then he turned his back on me. Bastard!
An osprey patrolled the lake.
Hula became sad, then angry, when we told him it was time to leave.

Great shots one and all; the first is simply stunning. And the look on Hula's face is priceless.
The pink sky on the first one is fabulous. And egrets usually wait until I have the kayak aimed and camera ready....THEN take off. So you did better than I usually do.
I believe that's a Great Blue Heron, not a Night Heron.
Thanks Jim. I'll make that correction ASAP!
The first one looks like a potential photo for a post card.
