Josh's new T-shirt
I ran into a fellow yesterday with an interesting T-shirt. This is Josh McMakin, an Arcata resident who informed me that there's a real problem with transients in the White City and something needs to be done about it. Reaction to his shirt is mixed, but "a lot of locals like it," McMakin said.

Hey, new reference: "White City." That's the first time I have heard Arcata described with this sobriquet (or should I say, epithet?). So where does that come from?
I believe it was named White City after some early settler named White. I need to dig up a recent Arcata Eye.
If it's White City, the tee shirt revision would definitely turn some heads.
